Lyrics
CHORUS 1
Aylali… Aylali… Aylali…
You're my Aylali
VERSE 1
From the heavens
From the Mystery
From a place so strong
Comes my Aylali
CHORUS 2
Aylali… Aylali… Aylali…
You're my Aylali
VERSE 2
Sound and sturdy
Like an oak tree
Standing tall
You're my Aylali
CHORUS 3
Aylali… Aylali… Aylali…
You're my Aylali
VERSE 3
Like a halo
A shining ring
Around the moon
You're my Aylali
CHORUS 4
Aylali… Aylali… Aylali…
You're my Aylali
Aylali… Aylali… Aylali…
You're my Aylali
Aylali… You’re my Aylali
Liner notes
I started singing “Aylali” to our daughter Ayla, the day she was born.
My wife Kelly and I chose the name “Ayla” because it has meanings in both our lineages, captured in each verse.
In Scottish, from Kelly’s father’s father’s side, it means “from a strong and resilient place.”
In Hebrew, from my family and the language of the Jewish people, it means “oak tree.”
And in Turkish, from my father’s father’s side, it means “halo of light around the moon.”
